Staring directly at me, this red-shouldered hawk is perched in the blinding rain...but seemingly oblivious to the watery pellets while determining my intrusion as 'friend or foe'. Its piercing call is distinctive (Listen!) and its keen eye provides successful hunting. No longer interested in me and/or perhaps tired of the soaking raindrops, it took off!

My half hour 'photo walk' - initially studying water drop images - quickly transitioned to dodging the dense 'showers' until shelter was discovered (fortunately in view of this imposing predator)...and another half hour later! The 'forced' opportunity to smell the roses was indeed worthwhile - a message to create those perspectives as often as possible. Freedom Park, Naples, FL
