JUL182009

JUL182009, originally uploaded by colemama.

Not a great shot, but this crescent moon (cropped and heavily doctored in post production) is a tribute to two interconnected events: the 40 year anniversary of landing a man on the moon and the passing of a memorable and down-to-earth journalist who reported the Apollo 11 moon landing and dreamed of his own lunar journey. Cronkite's exclamation, 'whew...boy' and his temporary loss for words are just as telling as his reporting, "Armstrong is on the moon -- Neil Armstrong, 38-year-old American, standing on the surface of the moon."

What a great moment for all ...and that's the way it is...
Rest in Peace, Walter Cronkite (1916-2009)

and now I see a smile in the heaven's crescent tonight....Naples, FL
