Unlike the dense blooms of the yellow tab, the jacaranda is much more stingy in flowering. This tree is generally more full, so perhaps it is showing the results of the out-of-sync weather this year. The deep purple is delightful and seeing them always start me humming Al Jarreau's "Jacaranda Bougainvillea", a tribute to the new South Africa after his visit in the early 2000's. After yellow tabs, they are my next favorite tree in our locale - the last of my top three is the poinciana, but it isn't in bloom yet!
