Persuasion may not be so evident in this storefront window of boogie board sales, but the role of the marketing industry is an important one in our society. Just as Christopher Columbus needed to convince Queen Isabella of his adventures a-sea, educators are constantly challenged to "sell" their content to students. I had to chuckle when a first year teacher revealed that it was "easy" to find a lesson plan, but that it was very time consuming and difficult to engage the students as they needed something more interactive, hands-on, and of more variety. Persuasion + motivation can lead to very powerful results! 6th Ave S & 10th St, Naples, FL

  1. Just shows that lesson plans are not the answer - tapping in to students and their interests and finding a way to channel them is what teaching is about. But I hope it is not about kitsch which some of these boards certainly are!
