Some shadow play of a bench at the playground adds to this photo, but I was attracted by the diamond pattern. Ralph Waldo Emerson is credited for this quote, “Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.”
Exploring responsibility for one's own actions is a fairly common theme when working with teenagers. Today's book club members spent time discussing the topic as it relates to the characters in Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why. Lots to think about - diamonds and all.... I love shadows and this is a great capture.
ReplyDeleteI love what you wrote - but also the photo. The definitive diamonds are transformed and softened in the shadows. A copy is not quite the real thing.
