Beach walks uncover so many ordinary things...I love the textures and shadows in this weathered wooden groin. It has obviously met its match with the pounding of daily surf and the occasional named storms, but it is still wired tight and serving its purpose. When there is a sense of purpose doesn't a certain meaningfulness always prevail? Sometimes, we need to sit back and reflect on our actions and how they do (or don't) align with our purpose and values. 3rd Ave N & Gulf of Mexico, Naples, FL

The gulf was lovely this morning, rippled with mauve, plum and golden highlights reflected from the early sunrise. But the pair of birds add nice contrast to the soft texture of the water. They look peaceful and serene floating along, but likely they are eyeing the surface for the movement of fish - after all, it's breakfast time! 4th Ave N & Gulf of Mexico, Naples, FL
