At first glance, this looked like the scales of an alligator...and that would not be too surprising, given the location! Turns out to be a dead palm tree revealing its remaining frond stumps. Oh, those times when the eyes deceive... not purposeful, but perhaps signaling a time to pause. So, it was and thus the photograph, which still offers that 'first glance' view even though its reality is known! :) Naples, FL
