Suffice it to say, this realistic human doll, posed as a driver in a parked 'classic' automobile, gets a second (and even a third...) look by many commuters. Those looks serve the purpose of focusing one's attention on the advertising (in this case, Truly Nolen's pest control) - subtle and effective! The scene sure brings a smile - it is unbelievably life-like and does test the thin line between 'real' and 'fake'! Coincidentally, my schedule has been inundated with library orientations which include a discussion of fiction (which students affectionately define as 'fake') and nonfiction - this photo will be a springboard for that discussion in tomorrow's presentation!
